I'm working on a scissors type ball mold .440, right now I have got it to where its a pair of scissor-ish looking things with two big half spheres on the end. Anyone got any tricks to get the cavity round and the right size?

Before I had access to a machine shop,I used to chisel out te shape kind of close enough,and then find a ball bearing of the apropiate size.Close it shut with a vise and take out the high spots until it was kind of OK. Next step was to lay it close with the ball bearing inside on a piece of rail,anvil or the likes, and pound it with a heavy sledge for as long as needed to mate exactly with the ball.Some filing of the outside , and you end up with a mould that can cast round balls as good as any you can buy!

Thanks for the info also today found it in one of the foxfire books at the public library. Man I really need to get that set of books.
