I have poured maxi's in the past in 36 and 50.Went to the gun shop today and there was a RB mold marked "456".I have a 45 Lyman that likes .451 RB's and thought I'd give it a try.It was only $10 with the handles and in steel.Poured tonite using pipe lead. :stir: Made 150 and had 5 swirls. When I mic them they measure .490. :hmm: Now I have some 50's that will eat these but why was it marked "456" and throws a ".490"?Weight was between 179 grs and 180 grs.

Maybe that is why it was priced at only $10??? :rotf:
Lots of guys shooting 50s would probably take it off your hands at that price?

I was just wondering if it was marked "456" why it threw a .490 ball?Shouldn't the mold # match the ball size?

No, often the number on the mold refers to a particular design of the manufacture, and not to ball or bullet diameter.
