Does anyone know where I could find REAL bullets or do you have to make them?Would like to try them can't seem to find them anywhere?

It appears you have to buy the mold and cast your own. I don't see any other source available in a google check. You want the mold, casting pot, a sizing die, and bullet lube.

There was a bullet co. that made them, I thought, but cant for the life of me remeber who. Sean

Since the R.E.A.L. bullets are a Lee innovation, you will most likely have to cast your own. You can do a search on ebay as sometimes they show up there. What caliber and weight are you looking for? Paul's suggestions are right on, but I have never sized any of mine.

What caliber do you need? I have some in .50/250gr I think, I went witht he shorter bullet as I was trying them in a roundball barrel, but decided to stick with PRB.

Was lookin for 380gr for 54cal.Wanted to try them.I heard they load kind of hard but shoot well, wanted to try them myself.thanks for the info.

Assuming you have a pot to melt the lead in, can you use a Coleman stove? I think I read that somewhere.

They only load hard, if they are NOT pure lead. I cast some from what I though was pure lead, had to beat them all the way down, ONCE. Got some pure and a good tap with the short starter and they slid down nicely with the ramrod. I found they are more accurate with a lubed over pwder wad. I had never used a sizing die on them. The rifling in the barrel cuts it own grooves in the bullet, hence the hard start, once started youre home free. Definitly lube them though.

I never did try the maxi. Like I said I had them in a roundball barrel, and was looking for a little more ooomph for bigger game, I was told people had good luck with the real bullets and the shorter(they make 2 sizes per caliber) bullet would perform adequately in the RB barrel. I got a little more ooomph, I went to a .62 for my ELk barrel, on the same rifle.

Rebel and I have had good results with the real bullets 50 cal in our T/C's Renegade and New Englander. We shoot them without the OPW. Rebel has used wasp nest at times with good results.

I'm curious did they perform as good as a maxi?

That will probably depend on idividual guns. I've tried the REAL in most of my guns both slow, med, and fast twists and could not get them to shoot as accurate at the Maxi-ball. However, I've read that some have had great results.

Kbeers, here ya go Pal. E-Bay Item # 230166016040 Seller is Cheapshotstore. Uncrichie.

a buddy of mine and myself ordered from cheepshots store the real bullets and roundballs, they were good quality but a couple out of the 50 should have been returned to the pot. My friend shot them out of his hawken with the same 70 gr of 2f american pioneer as he uses for roundball and they hit exactly at the same place at 30 yards. I am going to shoot a few of the 54 380s before I order a mould with and without the op wad. I am anxious to find a conical that shoots well that I can cast so that is why I ordered them. They were pure enough lead to scratch with a finger nail.

If you want a conical that shoots well, perhaps consider a Maxi Ball. You can usually pick up a good used mold on Ebay for about half price. I got one a few months ago and sure enjoy casting those bullets. I debated between a REAL mold and Maxi Ball mold for awhile, may still get a REAL someday just to try out. Not sure about the REAL molds, but I noticed on the Maxi Ball molds they need to heat up a bit before they pour "clean" smooth conicals. Usually takes 8-12 bullets before it gets heated well, just need to return the first few to the pot and remelt them.

To lube, I just dip the bullets, twice, into a shallow pan of melted lube. Let the bullets cool between coats of lube. It's quick and easy and puts plenty of lube in the grooves. :v This is a quote from another thread on how the member lubed Lee cast REAL bullets.
