I just happened to see on ESPN , (my son likes that channel) a documentary about Bobby Fisher, the world champion chess wiz kid/guy.

I was saddened to see the documentary, especially because here we have a brilliant person who is so embittered with the USA and anything Jewish.

The (ESPN) showed Fisher's comment's concerning the tragic events of 9/11, when the World Trade Towers were destroyed....totally outlandish, and hateful, his remarks were.

I wonder how this man became so filled with hate and loathing? What an absolute waste of thought, creativity and human decency.

I just wanted to get that outa my mind so that I can function today.......that's all.

The farther you move to the right on the bell curve, the stranger "they" get. I have an acquaintance that completed college when he was 12 and has PhD

This is a joke....right? Or am I that willing to believe everything you guys tell me. :shocking:

Yea never did care for those Pontiacs. He must be crazy.

No that's really him... He's really interested in Art Cars. This is his "Handy Car" and it has speakers on the outside that play songs that have "hand" in the title. He's a very unique individual.

A person a lot smarter than me, observed that the line between insanity and genius was very narrow.

I wonder how this man became so filled with hate and loathing?

If I was an uber-genius already balancing on that thin line to insanity anyway, having my country indict me and put out a warrant for my arrest for playing a game of chess might push me over too.

I think, according to the report, was that he violated UN sanctions to play in one of the Slavic nations during one of the many conflicts. It's either that or there was a US sanction against it...can't remember.

He broke a law, a steep one at that. It appeared to be blatant....but regardless of that, that is mild compared to what he said about the US three hours after the tragedy of 9/11 occurred. He damned the US, that's you, me, my kids, yours, everybody's. He was delighted that this happened. Estatic.

Last year, my son (who was weeks from bootcamp), he and I wanted to visit some museums in Cleveland (the land of Cleves) and we happened to wonder through the Western Reserve Museum. There was a display showing some things that was removed from those twin towers. Some of these things were fireman's boots, a police officers gun (badly deformed), part of seats from one of the planes, I.D.'s of all sorts, chunks of luggage, but the worst thing I saw were toys, children's toys. Did some children perish in that? I can't say. Pretty sad if they did though.
There were real people attatched to that stuff, they aren't here now.

This man, most likely educated in our society, this genius, this person who has so much that he is catered too by others condems the US and then is thrilled that everyday folk perished in that attack?

My brother has a close friend who married a Japanese women. He is called a derogatory remark, I can pronounce it, but doubt I can spell it. He knows what it means, sorta like an outsider but more akin to the dreaded "N" word.

I asked this fella what do the Japanese think of us the USA? His answer was that they idolize us because after WW 2 we picked them up, dusted them off, showed them how to run a country and helped them out. We didn't rampantly destroy them, butcher them, torture them and force them into slavery,,,,guess what....they would have done that to us. They are, according to him, a stuanch allie.

That is how we work in this country, and when I here a coward like Fisher puke out his insane diatribe....I become very sad, because there may be some people who just might believe him.

So much talent, how abhorently sad.

He violated a United states law saying no one could go to/participate in sporting events in a certain soviet block country. But he may also be the "celebrity" that went out of the country to avoid being brought up on child porn charges.

Werent his "comment" post 9-11 more about how america was back ass stupid when it comes to keeping its own citizens alive, but says it knows whats best for the rest of the world?

Yes he went to Slovakia to attend a chess match.
I would bet a million dollars to a doughnut that if he would have been held hostage at gun point he would have been praying for the 'GOOD OLE USA' to come save his ass.

I looked him up on the web, his comments are really eye opening....well, I would suppose he has a right to his beliefs. I don't agree with them, and there is really not much I can do about it!

All that time and energy put forth to hate. What a waste!

I saw that too. I had heard before that he was an idiot, but holy cow! Amazing how he can be SO good at chess, but not have a ounce of common sense.

His book "Bobby Fisher teaches Chess" is an awesome starting point for chess. I used to tell people to buy it because it will drastically improve a beginners game. Hard to recommend anything by him now though. Since he is in exile, I wonder if he gets any money from it anyway?

I have no idea, but he lives in Iceland, I think. I don't believe the cost of living is really very high over there.

Bet you could do pretty good making $2.50 an hour.

Hate is a very srong emotion that destroys rational thought. My take on it is that the very intelligent have many more ways to hate than us ordinary folk, & it drives them over the edge.
