Rear Sight

What is the differance between a European dove tail and a standard dovetail? I have a Cabelas hawken with the rear sight held in place with two screws and I want to convert over to a dovetail rear sight. The barrel is 15/16" and a .54 bore. The sight that I like is from a CVA mountain rifle I think this is going to be a European dovetail. Thanks for the help.

No hard and fast rule, here, but a euro metric dovetail will often be .360 in SAE terms (inch). If you have access to a Track of the Wolf catalog, they have this sort of info scattered throughout.
