I have a 15/16 sewer pipe TC barrel i was going to have Ed Rayl rebore to 54 smooth.I then found a .56 SB Renegade cheap. What should i do with the barrel caliber wise? Can i do anything between 50 and 54-Say 52?
A buddy had an old .45 of some sort"freshed" to 52 or 53 when i was younger that was just weird enough to seem interesting.I believe he used a 500 or 510 ball?

Or would that just be plain stupid?

George,
There is no reason to not rebore or reline that barrel. You can go larger or smaller, but the choice is yours.

I hadn't thought about a reline to a smaller caliber.Who does it and what price do they typically get.

Because the TC uses a patent breech, you might be able to do this one yourself. Over on the CB forum under the MLer section there is an ongoing thread about relining and he's doing it himself.

Bob Hoyt in Fairfield, Pa makes barrels, rebores and relines, so he could help you out. Too, If you have a local 'smith that you like, he/they could do the job.

Basically, this entails boring/reaming the existing barrel to accept liner that can be epoxied or soldered in place.

Mr. Hoyt relined a TC New Englander for me. Dang if I remember how much it was. The latest price sheet I got says about $225 but that's at least a year old.
By the way, for bore sizes he lists 22, 26, 30, 32, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 50, 52, 54, 55, 58, 60, 62, 69.
