I got an awesome deal in a trade. I ended up with a .50 cal T/C Hawken for about 100 bucks. The thing is I really wanted a .54 cal. The barrel is OK but not perfect but still shoots good. So, if I wanted to get it punched out to .54 with a 1:70 twist where do I send it and how much will it cost?

Capt. like Jeffery said ya may want to consider buying a drop in barrel. By the time ya add up the cost of reboreing n rifleing the one ya got the costs are not that much different. Also the waiting period for useing the drop in will be most likely shorter. I've seen yer question asked several times on other boards and there seems to be only one fella in western Pa that does the boreing but I don't know if he rifles the barrel once smooth I also don't have his name or addy, sorry YMHS Birdman

What is the matter with .50?

You can kill anything in SE Ohio with the .50. Ammo is readily avalible at any dealer or Wall Mart.

You got a good deal, keep it that way.

yup I would put in a greenmtnbarrel,
they are a better barrel than T.C.'s factory barrel.
you will have a little more than two hundred buck invested and great shootin' rifle

Give Tip Curtis at the frontier Shop a call at
615-654-4445. He has the GM drop in barrel in 54 cal for $190 plus $10 shipping. And he ships within a week. Then you can sell your old barrel and make out good.
His e mail is [email protected].

You'd be money ahead to just get a GM .54cal x 15/16" x 32" x 1:70" drop-in barrel...

Nothing wrong with using a GM drop in barrel or buying a barrel and fitting all the parts yourself. Cost to rebore your old barrel in my shop is $150. I can't say if it will cut smooth till it's in the machine so you are taking a chance that it won't shoot after it is bored and rifled.
