Recommendations on buying a .32 caliber flintlock

I'm new to the forum and will be heading to Friendship with hopes of finding a .32 caliber flintlock to squirrel hunt with. Any recommendations? Once I have the rifle I'm sure that I'll have a lot more questions. Thanx.

You will find a lot of muzzleloaders to choose from. Don't forget to check out the blanket traders on the Primitive side. Some of the best bargains are laying on blankets. Rush Creek will be able to help you with the correct sized roundball for your new gun. Everything you need will be at hand. If you are a member of the NMLRA you can buy powder as well. Blackpowder is getting hard to find so stock up on 3F.

As said, you will enjoy the trip and will find a lot to choose from. I suggest you not limit yourself to .32 cal. A .36 or .40 can be excellent for your needs as well.
If you find your rifle, you will also be able to buy all the necessarys as well while you are there.
Have fun and report back what you do.

You didn't ask, but especially with longer barrels, be sure and buy several extra ramrods while you're at it. Those skinny little things can break pretty easily, especially when you're just starting out and learning the ropes. And you'll be out of action until you get another. You won't find a replacement simply by walking into a local sporting goods store, and it's certainly frustrating to have your new rifle out of action while you wait for one to be shipped in. They're not expensive, and having a spare or two certainly eases your mind when working with small bores.

so does a .32 take a 5/16" rod (5/16" =.3125"), or a 1/4"?

About, yes. That's why a .36 is better and a .40 is better still. No flies on the .32, though; I have one that has accounted for many squirrels.

Thanx for the help. I should probably know this but I am not familiar with the name Rush Creek. It sounds like a company, perhaps a supplier of muzzleloading equipment, etc. Am I close?
