Based primarily on the banjo from the famous c. 1785-1800 painting "The Old Plantation", with a backcountry NC flair to its sound holes. Similar to "banjar" described in Jefferson's Notes on the State of Virginia and 18th century descriptions, as well as the late 17th century drawings of Afro-Caribbean instruments by Hans Sloane. Deep tone, in part due to being strung with one gauge of calf gut strings (tennis gut.) Three long strings and a drone string. Squirrel hide head. Cherry bridge. Pine neck stained with iron and vinegar stain and finished with a coat of linseed oil. $225 plus any shipping cost if necessary. PM if interested. PayPal or Venmo Friends and Family, check, or money orders accepted. Thanks!
