Picked up a old muzzleloader double shotgun marked "Twist" on the barrels I want to take a stab at refinishing. Any ideas to bring out the pattern of the damascus to best advantage in an original manner?

The Late Oscar Gaddy was a reknoned expert on this.
Many of his peers and talented gun types can be found on gunshop.com
Ask nicely and you be treated with good info and respect.

First off have you research your SXS , who made it , what shape is it in and what is its worth , realize that doing this yourself could effect the value greatly . If after that you still feel you want to do this

There are several ways to do it bill Brockway

thanks for the information. The gun is an old $50 clunker I picked up to practice on, needs locks and a few other parts. Refinished it probably won't be worth much, except maybe to me, but then again I can't do it too much damage at this point either.
