Well it was a process of stock removal. :grin:

I started out by making a template from a sheet of copper of how I thought the hammer should be shaped fo rthis lock. Transfered that to a block of steel and got out the power hacksaw, angle grinder and assorted files and removed everything untill it looked like a hammer. :winking:
 
Hey you, now it's back here in my hand, you dressed the face of the frizzen? and probably rehardened it didn't ya? :grin:
 
:rotf: So my buddy took this over to a military relic appraiser today and the appraiser complimented him on having a complete original gun as most seen are missing parts. :rotf:

Guess that says a lot about Roy's work. :hatsoff:
 
Roy, obviously what you thought the hammer should look like and what the original hammer looked like were very similar. At least enough to fool his eye- you crafty dawg. :thumbsup:
