I am just getting started in this and looking where I can find listing's of where rendezvous are to be held. I am looking to go and see what this is all about. Bin shooting flinters a long time, just tired of dooing it alone hear in the pines of East Texas.
Thanks.....

There is an east Texas buckskinners club--they have a website. The big southwestern rondy will be held in north Louisiana this spring. There is a small rondy this weekend (Fri-Sat-Sun, 12-13-14 Nov)at Pandemonia plantation north of Rayville, LA (NE of Monroe). There will be a one shot over log turkey shoot and a three shot offhand shoot for some good prizes (like a custom pistol, powder horn, handmade sash, etc)and a blanket toss hawk and knife throw. Plus an 1830s camp, a blacksmith, a potter, a gunsmith and other artisans, good food and company....

Hi Mike,,,
Do you have any contact information for the gathering this weekend in LA.?
The Buckskinner groop hear in east texas I have found on the web, but no luck in getting any one from it to respond and there websight has not bin updated in over a year. So I am not sure how to get in touch with them.
Thanks for posting the information....

Sorry, Hairsmith! I didn't get back to you. I had to leave for a few days and didn't see your post. The rondy at Pandemonia Plantation was a small affair of the Bayou Pierre Traders group of which I am a member. It was by invitation of the Pandemonia Foundation. I don't know how to contact the east Texas club, but I'll ask around. A couple of our members know some of those guys. Our little group is mainly composed of north Louisianans and a few Arkansas folks. Bayou Pierre was an 18th century trading settlement north of Natchitoches (Ft Jean Baptiste)that harbored contrabandistas of various nationalities. It was tecnically illegal to trade with Spanish held Texas in those days but a thriving illicit trade was set up by French and other settlers. Probably the Carolina traders were also involved. After the LA Purchase (1803) the area became no man's land--not a part of Spanish Texas or the US. Wild area and we "reenact" a broad range of the history, some of us try to do earlier 1700s and others early 1800s--some are just 'buckskinners' having fun shooting and throwing hawks and cooking good food on open fires....we typically get together in north central LA which is a good drive from Texas (I know, I live 4 miles from the Texas line). If interested I can get you in touch with one of the officers....
