Did Thompson Center ever make a Renegade Carbine? There's one for sale on Gun Broker that is 50cal with a 21" full octagon flint barrel. I'm wondering if maybe this is a cut down or a barrel off of another model? Thanks in advance, Flintleather

The Renegade is a half stock full length rifle.
It has a 26" barrel with a 1:48" twist rate.
If they are selling a shorter barrel Renegade it is a mod. Either they put a different barrel on it or had the one that came with it cut down.

A few years back a member here clipped a barrel to about that length, and as I recall it was a Renegade. It doesn't take near so much memory juice to recall that his results were outstanding.

The Hot Rod Hawken...?

That thing has a fast twist barrel if I remember right and the dude was shooting heavy conicals and stout powder charges.

The gun you speak of is this one. the Hot Rod Hawken.

I shoot 80 gr of pyrodex P with an over powder wad. I use a 408 grain RCBS 11mm rifle bullet.
I have been asked by a lot of people to sell this gun. So far I might be crazy but I have turned down insane amounts of money for it. And no the rifle the OP talks about is not mine.

that barrel has been shortened. I have owned both a Renegade & New Englander with shortened barrels as well as a White Mountain Carbine with the same barrel length. they all shot good & were indeed handy but, IMHO this was offset quite a bit by the pretty significant increase in muzzle-blast.

A half dozen or so years ago Green Mountain was selling 21" drop-in barrels for the TC Renegade and Hawken guns. I suspect it's one of those.

I’d like to find one for my renegade stock.
This stock is only about 1.5” longer in the channel than the white Mountain.

Figure I’ll get a .50 Renegade 1” across flats and have it Chopped down. Be close enough

I’ve got a lot of hours watching that gun shoot!

Looks like I’ve tracked down a nice T/C Renegade.54 barrel 26”. Good guy on here I’ve dealt with… Said it’s a good shooter 1:48” and he has Slayed a lot with it.

Maybe 23” or 22” - Don’t think that will be to short for what I’m looking to do.

Walking carbine-75 yard shot max
70/80 gr of 2F and a ball.

The TC Pa Hunter had a Carbine version.I bought one of the last ones years ago and it,s still NIB.I,ve been wantin to get it out but my Rennie keeps callin me. :p
