Hello,
I am waiting for my Figthorn kit from Jedediah Starr which comes with a large Siler lock. My problem is this, I am anal about having replacement parts in my possession to cover future problems :youcrazy: . I can't find replacement frizzens for this lock, all the springs yes, but not the frizzen. What would be an acceptable alternative? Thanks for your time.

You can get a Siler frizzen directly from Jim Chambers, but be aware, they need to be fitted to each individual lock, then heat treated. Jim could fit one for you if you send the lock to him. Give him a call.

I wouldn't worry about the frizzen failing on a Siler, unless it was assembled and hardened by someone other than Chambers.

A spare mainspring, yes, because they do occasionally break, but frizzens on Chambers locks don't go dead like case hardened frizzens, so I wouldn't worry about a replacement.

Moreover, Chambers has a lifetime guarantee on their locks...unless they aren't modified by the owner or builder.

God bless

Thanks for the information. I didn't know what to expect down the road. Somebody didn't do their cyphering well and got a decent price on enough powder to " last through your grand kids" :yakyak: So I am certain that I can shoot daily if I am having the fun that I know I"ll be having once the pieces get here and I get it shooting. I will have fun putting it together, but that isn't all of it, I am excited to hunt with it soon. A sentiment I've not gotten lately. Got everything else ready, just need the parts and skill.
Thank you again

I hope by soon you mean next year. Expect to take a minimum of about 3 months to do a decent job on the rifle. As far as the frizzen goes, it will more than likely out last you. The siler locks from Chambers are top quality.

I agree with you Ghettogun.

One of the biggest mistakes new builders make is to rush building their guns.

IMO a new builder should count on having to spend at least 140 hours of work on one of these "advanced" "boxes of parts".
As I recall, my first gun took me over 180 hours and it didn't have a bit of carving, inlays or wire-work on it.
