what size nipples and type should i get for an 1861 colt navy thats made by CVA its a .36cal for better replacements

I'd go with Treso/Ampco bronze nipples. I'm not sure who made the CVA guns, so I can't give you a specific size (someone else will surely know).

Make sure you buy PISTOL nipples, not rifle nipples.
The lengths are quite different and they will not interchange.

Buy good steel revolver nipples.
I had a Ampco on a rifle years back and every time I removed it and put it back in it turned in a little farther.
I did not care for the stretch and changed it for a steel one. They index to the same point every time.

Most, probably all, of the CVA revolvers with the CVA circle logo on the side of the frame are Italian ASM brand (Armi San Marco).

If you look under the barrel there will be small letters "ASM" or "SM".
