I am getting the itch again to build or do something, but the monies are a little tight. Got a question, does anyone now of a steel replacement patch box for the T/C Hawken that is steel. Not looking for a perfect match in respect to looks, just something that will cover the hole.

Why not just make one?. One square foot of 3/32" steel would cost maybe $2 and be enough for about 5-8 boxes. The round lids are a pain to make but you could use the brass lid from the box you have. Blued or browned box with a brass lid would be distinctive and you could shape the box anyway you like (providing it covers the existing mortice) rather than haveing something someone ELSE thought was nice. Just a thought.

What if I took a piece of Silver and shaped it lik the Hawken Patchbox but didn't make a lid to actually use. Then I had it engraved real fancy, do you think it would look good. Not so much as a box but as a decorative insert.
