Replacing nipples?

I have a Uberti 1858 Remington revolving carbine. I get a lot of stinging on my face when shooting it since I have to put my face close to the breech. My more experienced friends say that the Italian guns are designed for Italian caps, and our American caps fit loosely on them which causes priming compound to leak out around the edges upon firing. Makes sense since I have to pinch the caps a bit with my fingers to get them to stay on. My friends recommend replacing the nipples with slightly larger ones. Looking on Track of the Wolf, I can't determine which ones since they offer dozens. Any suggestions?

Not true -- use # 10 caps -- I like the Remington ones which maybe hard to find since Remington is now defunct.
