Ok folks. I just received this revolver from my uncle today. It is an Armi San Marco manufactured in 1970. I am guessin it is a replica of an 1861 Navy but in .44Cal and brass framed. I also got a calvary holster out of the deal.

1860 Army. It does appear to have the rebated cylinder. Check it to see if the cylinder pin is tight, i had one that was loose. I never had any luck with ASM's but i know some people have had them and liked them.

Pic looks like the frame is steel. Trigger guard and backstrap are clearly brass but the frame is darker.

Looks like a brass frame that has been 'blacked' some how. Look at the back strap. ?? By the way I have an ASM 58 'Hawkin', I am really pleased with it.

My Son's 1860 Army made by Uberti is very close to this example, save for the darkened brass frame. It's the cylinder that gives itself away to me. The '60 Army cylinder is rather unique, and from the looks of it, it's what you got.

Clean the thing up a little and give her a whirl! 20-25 grains of 3Fg Goex, a ox-yoke wonder-wad and a .454 ball and have some fun!

After you clean it real good, take some lubriplate-type white grease and put some into the teeth of the loading lever where the lever comes into contact with the barrel. This will smooth-up the rough spots that some of the '60 Army's get.

Have Fun and Make SMOKE :) .

1860 it shall be. The roundballs I ordered just came in today. I hope to fit in some shooting this weekend. I will post the results when I get to. Thanks for your input.

Brass frame? Steel frame?

A magnet should settle the matter.

Tanks for the suggestion. I removed the finish that was on it and it is brass for sure. I already refinished it. Will post pics later.

Looks a lot like a CVA replica that was made around the same time. didn't know ASM did them too. it's basicaly a 60 Army Frame and barrel with a 51 navy type grip. These were generic type revolvers made for having fun making noise and smoke. they were not replicas of any specific Colt revolver. take it out, shoot it and have a good time with it.

Here is the refinish. I used Birchwood Casey blueing paste on the barrel and frame. I like how it came out. You have to look really close to tell it is brass. The old finish was some sort of paint. sanded right off.

I try not to. Seriously though, it looks fine brass, but that finish you did looks good too. I would say it is Up To You.

How did I guess you were gonna say that. I actually like how the brass is aging on the little pistol. It shall stay as is...for now.
