looks at home on that rifle. i'd use it! heck i stole a skinner peep sight off a 1895 to put on one of my squirrel guns!
Might try making one from a older, inexpensive or buggered lyman or redfield peep. Attaching a tang mount to the side of the original mount might work with using original screw homes or solder. Might lose some lateral movement to center but windage seems always less important than elevation.
