I'm making plans to try to attend the NMLRA Spring Shoot at Friendship this year - this will be my first trip to Friendship. It's scheduled for June 12-20, but it looks like I can only spend 4 days/nights there.

What is the agenda typically like in terms of events on the grounds, and when are the more popular sutlers in residence?

Would you recommend I plan to attend June 12-15 or June 17-20? Or would it be better to avoid the weekends and attend 14-17 or 15-18?

My recommendation is go the first 4 days. The first weekend everyone is there, the biggest crowd is there along with the most vendors. People start getting serious with shooting on Monday, but most of the vendors are still there. A lot of vendors start pulling out about Wednesday. By the end of the week 1/3 to 1/2 are gone. I think you will have the time of your life, there is nothing like Friendship. Enjoy yourself.
I will mostly be around the pistol line. If you have time look me up. :v

See ya, Jim/OH :hatsoff:

12th to 15th will be your best bet. You're in for a real treat. If you need some help for your first visit, I'd be glad to help, as would a bunch of others on the forum.

Ok, first weekend by consensus.

Ok, now any advice on where to stay? I'll be by myself, and to minimize my effort I'm planning on a hotel/motel/B&B rather than camping. Not the best of all worlds, but hey, I'm old and hate to actually do stuff myself. We'll do the camping thing next time.

Got to agree with these guys. The first 3 or 4 days are best. Its not out of the question to look around there Fri. if you are camping.

I don't do the nearby flea market but a lot of people cruise through it. I'll be walking around and spending some time sitting on the guardrail between the main grounds and the primitive. Some real sights to behold there and an occasional bargain there too.

Mykeal---I.m in the same shoes.. I will be camping.... looking forward to shooting and shopping...keep the advice comming.

Go to the NMLRA Home page and click on the vist Friendship link they have a list of local hotels and bed and breakfast's.

Sounds like you are on the right track. However, if you are considering a motel or something, I would suggest you get reservations asap because they are pretty much booked up by June.

Camping at Friendship isn't all that primitive. There are lots of bathrooms with running water and showers. I always camp on Primitive hill and even there we have flush toilets and hot showers. The grass is always mowed and all in all its kind of like a State Park except there is a lot more shooting. Only drawback to camping there is the Flea Market hootenanny each night. They crank those speakers up and we can really hear Rocky Top up on the top of the hill. But they usually shut down around 11 or 12 and then things settle down for the night.

Manny, thanks. I'll do camping next time once I know the lay of the land better. I'm not all that limber any more, and I'll be by myself, so I'm just going to take it easy and let someone else pick up after me.

I've been through the NMLRA site listings; lots of choices. I was just wondering if someone had some extra good words to say about one place over another. They all seem good to me.

I'll have reservations in the next few days, hopefully.
