Hey everyone!

I just got my Brown Bess stock in the mail which I won off of E-bay.
Is is a Pedersoli stock to go with the Pedersoli lock, barrel etc etc that I already have.

First thing is that one of the barrel lugs isn't in the right spot, though the other 3 are. Is it possible to move a barrel lug?
I don't know how they're attached, but it looks pretty permanent.
I'm guessing you can cut one off and solder another one on.

Another thing is the the hole in the barrel tang isn't lined up with the hole in the stock. How does somebody fill up one hole to re-drill another right next to it?

I think everything else can be made right with some inletting

I'll keep you guys posted with the progress

Thanks for any suggestions

Iain

The lugs should be silver soldered on and should be easy to move. To fill the hole, are you fill the hole in the tang or the stock? To fill the hole in the stock I would just glue a dowel of the correct size in and re drill but to fill the hole in the tang would require welding and a little more work.

Thanks for the response blacksmith

Here are some photos of what I'm talking about in case anyone is interested in looking.

A builder from this forum has generously agreed to set some time aside to help with this project, but it never hurts to read what other people have to say.

Here is the barrel lug in the wrong spot, needs to be moved a few inches down

Here is the tang that needs to be inletted a little deeper, and have the screw hole relocated

Probably easier said than done, but we'll see

The holes for the lock bolts line up rather nicely, and the lockplate appears as though it should drop right in, it's just that darned sear spring that's getting in the way!

Thanks for looking everyone, I'll let ya all know when it all comes together
