One of the things that appeals to me about this hobby is that there's always something different to experiment with and get some first hand experience...and I'll be shooting both Saturday and Sunday mornings this weekend so I'm going to experimennt with used .015" shooting patches from last summer.

During July/August when it was so hot & humid I noticed NL1000 patches would float to the ground nearly as clean as new so I pick them up after a few range sessions and tossed them in a box in the garage.

Noticed them this week and decided to try them...I could still feel a little NL1000 in them but put squirted a little Hoppes BP Plus on them anyway...will use 100 this weekend and judging from their condition, they should be as good as new.

Jack Benny would be proud

If you really want to go cheap (and prove you are seriously frugal) bag the Hoppes and use spit as the lubricant.

Man talk about cheap! lol
I thought me being breed Dutch/Greek was the perfect combination of frugal.
But I now see , well not sure what I see now! :shake:

I have over 4000 new precut/prelubed .018" TC pillow ticking patches, and over 1000 precut/prelubed .015" Oxyoke patches on hand still sealed in their bags...not cheap...just curious...then I'll be able to stae from first hand experience, "this is what happened", etc.

I shoot every weekend so I have to have something interesting and different to do on some of those trips

Will the patches be thinner after being shot?

I don't think so, although the patch is compressed when loaded, the cloth should rebound after it had ben fired, just like folded clothes rebound after you press them down...

However, you should run into some frayed edges and fouling embedded in the fibers of the patch from time to time...

Next thing ya know someones gonna try and recycle the gunsmoke, and put her back down the barrel. :rotf: :blah: :rotf: Bill

An EGR system for a muzzleloader !

We shouldn't laugh too hard...I bet if somebody made and marketed one, somebody somewhere would buy it!
