A friend wants to sell/trade me a set of blackpowder revolvers in .36 and .44 cal. Each is more than 30 years old and in very good condition. I can't find brand names but the .44 has "made in belgium" on the bottom strap. He tells me that he hasn't shot either one more than 15-20 times each and the condition proves that point. I'm curious to know what each/the pair would be worth as I'd love to get into shooting blackpowder if it wouldn't break the bank...

as ever,

Dr. X,
with that age and being made in belgium, I would gander to say that they are of superior quality and would fetch a premium price on the open market. You could research them by looking at online ads. DGW has a pretty good list of older guns, you might find something to campare with.

Photos would help a great deal in determing value!

Revolver value is usually based on a few factors. Manufacturer, materials it is made of and what model it is. Belgium made guns were of very good quality and generally worth more than Italian made guns or at least as valuable. Steel framed guns hold more value than brass framed guns because they are more rugged and hold up better. Some models are reproduced often and in large numbers and are less valuable than models that are less common or reproduced in small quantities. Other things like engraving or commemorative models also add to value. If you give us a more detailed discription then folks here can give you a better idea of value. Sounds like their nice guns from what you have said so far.

Condition they are in is indicative of the value. Browning was located in Belgium, they are known for good work there.
