Just traded a pair of kit .50 single shot pistols for a practically new Remington 1858. Got a pick up some balls, I’m thing .451?

I would go ahead and get .454s just to be safe. I shoot .451s in most of my cap and ball revolvers, but have a couple that need .454s. The .454 will cut a little larger lead ring, but you will get a good seal.

Most of my 44s use .454" balls, but one uses .451". 454 is too tight in that one, and puts way too much strain on the loading system and grip frame if I try to force them in.

You won't know the right size until you try them, but most will take .454", so I would start there.

The gun shop had this pistol tagged as Richland Arms, but all the Richland’s I’ve seen have a brass frame. This one isn’t brass framed.
