Hope someone can help. I am finishing a richland arm muzzleloader and as was changing the nipple I noticed that the drum was a little loose. I unscrewed the nipple and the drum. I put a bore light in the hole and noticed the bottom of the barrel, in front of the breech plug. Is the drum supposed to come out, or should i put locktite on the threads and tighten it up.

If the drum is slightly loose when it's screwed in almost all the way with the nipple lined up with the hammer, I suggest using the Blue Loc-Tite thread locking compound. Don't use the Red compound. The Blue will allow you to loosen the drum in the future if you ever need to. The Red is for permanent installations.

Loc-Tite only cures when it is making metal to metal contact so be sure the internal and external threads are clean and totally oil free.
