Of all the States We travel through,Texas seems to have the largest amount of White Tail road kill.Several years ago, comming back from Florida to West Texas. From Ft. Lancaster to Bakers Field,We counted over 100 dead deer. The Tractor Trailers do a job on the deer at night.Comming down I-81 through Penn. along about Sranton You start seeing a lot of dead deer. Also I-84 has it's share.I sure hate to see all that meat and hides going to waste! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif :boohoo:

Ever notice that the highways are better hunters that we are?

I see their handywork everywhere...

Of course, now that hunting season is over, the highway is a poacher... ::

We saw a dead black panther road kill, northern floridia, shoulda got him and skinned but didnt.

@ august ago a logging truck made mince meat out of a small black bear on the hwy near my home. on the road in 80 degrees till the rookie who drew the short straw at the DNR had to clean it up :haha:. Just watching the poor shmoe clean and shovel the guts in that heat would justify any fee increase the DNR asks for ::

Pennsylvania has more than it share of fleshy speed bumps. Coon, Bear, Deer all sorts of Road smears! Here in Massachusetts the big problem is Deer and Moose. But you get a free hunting license and the carcass after you total your vehicle! :D

We teach our deer to look both ways before crossing the road. :bull: The opposums and raccoons sure are having trouble reaching the other side, lately. I saw a coyote the other day.
Illinois allows you to pick up roadkill deer without having to call in for a tag # , now. Just have to have the date and exact location you got it, IF you're asked.

There's moose in Massachusetts?

I never knew that, I figured Maine, but Massachusetts...

Learn something new every day...

Dear daughter keeps a "roadkill journal" in our jeep. She has a page for each month, and keeps a record using hashmarks for each type of animal (Deer, squirrel, skunk, possum, dog, etc). Also a section for "UFO's" (Unidentifiable Flattened Objects)
Thought we were the only wierdos who kept track of roadkill!

UFO's (Unidentifiable Flattened Objects) :haha:

Actually, this is good training for game management, state department's of natural resources keep track of road kill deer and such to keep tabs on their numbers...

You don't see any road kill crows though, that's because when you get close to them, one squaks: "Carrr Carrrrrr!" :haha:

game management! I never woulda thunk of it. I thought you all just shared our own morbid sense of curiosity lol
