Just wondering if any of you may have this gun and if so how do you like it compared to the 1858 new army.

I've owned a Euroarms version for several years and it's my favorite cap-n-ball revolver. Not to take anything away from the '58 Remmie, but I like the grip frame of the R & S better. It's more condusive to smaller hands. I also like the balance and the fact that the sights don't need to be tweaked as much to get it shoot (point of aim). My particular R & S shoots 3" groups at 25 yards with 35 grains of pyrodex P, .454 RB and a .45 wonder wad (between ball and powder).

I own and shoot both the R&S 44cal and 1858 Remington. The R&S has a slighty larger grip which fits my hand better than the Remington. The trigger placement is also better for me.

It is easier to switch cylinders on the Remington (if that is important to you). I own several replica cap & ball revolvers, including Colts and Remingtons by Uberti, and Remingtons by Euroarms. If forced to get rid of all except one, I'd keep the R&S.

I agree with all the above ! I love my R&S.
It can shoot 2" groups at 25 yds all day long...
It is capable of holding 45 grains of 3 FFF
WHICH IS A bIG bOOM! But 15 grains is just fine for paper at 25 yds. The grips feel so much better than a colt or Remmie! I dont think you will be disappointed at all if you purchase one!

Thanks for the info. think I'm going to get one really like the looks of the gun.

I also have one. I stole it NIB(new in box) at a gun show for 125 bucks. It has become one of my favorite BP handguns. shoots .457 rounds.

I bought a new Euroarms R&S in 1979, and then got another (made in 1994) at auction 4 years ago. Next to my ROA's they are my favorite .44 percussion revolvers.

My Euroarms R&S revolver has the absolute best out-of-the-box trigger pull of ANY of the many cap & ball revolvers I have ever used, BAR NONE! It was even better than my stock ROA. Even after working on the ROA's trigger, it isn't too much better than the R&S.

Only complaints I have with the R&S are
1. no safety notches or pins between the nipples :cursing: (I don't trust a half-cock notch for a safety), and
2. the grip frame is a pain to remove and reinsert when cleaning.

Other than the above-mentioned items, the R&S is a fine revolver. If you get one, I am sure you will be pleased with it.

Both of mine have light colored BLONDISH grips...
do they all have grips this color???or are some darker?? My oldest R&S was made in '72 and it still looks NEW!

I have a 1979 Armi San Paolo (Euroarms), very well made replica, very accurate. The hammer spur is just a little higher than I like. Grip fits my hand better than the 1858 and the revolver is slightly heavier. One of the best shooting C&B revolvers I own.

Very Purty ! And I know for sre you have Great tast in Bp pistoles !( I love the dragoon with the long barrel...can I talk ya into sellin it?)
Is the front sight on your R&S aftermarket???

The R&S is modified with a adjustable front sight. The barrel was notched for a low profile ramp with a dovetail. Then a brass sight was fabbed for the dovetail. This was done by the previous owner who used this revolver in comp shoots.

The looong barreled Dragoon is here on my desk so I can continually drool on it. I well let you know if I see another shoulder stocked Dragoon, they are few and far between.

Last post sorta echoed my thoughts. I've never owned one, but a couple competition shooters I know use the Rogers & Spencer & consider it superior to the New Model Remingtons I used. One guy even shoots his original (rebarreled).
