BOWLING GREEN – Ronald Eugene Robinson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 10, 2025, at the age of 78 in his home in Bowling Green, KY. He was born in Centreville, IL, to Albert and Murial Robinson (nee Cleveland). Ron’s persona was larger than life?intelligent and mischievous, handsome and charming, with a competitive spirit that drove him to excel in everything he pursued. An avid hunting and fishing enthusiast, Ron was an excellent marksman, a devoted animal lover, and a talented artisan and craftsman. Beneath his formidable exterior lay a tender-hearted and sentimental soul. With an unwavering work ethic, Ron thrived in various fields throughout his life. He graduated from Cahokia High School and dedicated 30 years of service to General Motors at the Corvette plant in St. Louis and later in Bowling Green. Since 1976, Ron embraced the American Mountain-man way of life, passionately hosting and participating in rendezvous reenactments, muzzleloading shoots, woods walks, and encampments. He took great pride in learning blacksmithing, copper, and tin smithing, dedicating himself to preserving this unique slice of American history through his involvement with the Stump Bluff Militia and Les Coureurs du Bois. Ron is survived by his loving wife, Diana (nee Akin), and his children: daughter Roni (Rick), son Ryan (Dawn), son Jeremy Akin (Kelsey), and son Terry Smith (Shelley). He was a proud grandfather to Max Fields, Nova Brayleigh, Garrett Akin, and Connor Akin, and a great-grandfather to Jack Fields. He is preceded in death by his siblings: Mary, Albert Jr., Abner, Jerry, Glen, Larry, and Donald Ray, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with visitation at 12:00 PM at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home. Refreshments, food, and fellowship will follow next door at The Midtown Events Center. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Ron’s life and share their memories. Ron touched the lives of many, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace, Ron. You will be greatly missed.
