This has devolved into a discussion of whether any contemporary gun is worth big money. Of course many people who don’t have that kind of money are going to say no. Some of those same people will pay $60,000 or even more for a new truck or Jeep that never hauls anything but them around, when a 2011 Ford Ranger would do the same.
A better way of addressing whether a Ron Scott contemporary gun is worth such and such is to compare his work and the price of a gun by him to other high end builders today and what they are getting for their guns. His work fits in easily.

After reading Rich's response, fine firearms will go up in value and a new truck will go down.

Not much else to say.

I was blessed to have Ron teach me about building muzzleloaders. I came to understand the muzzleloading rifle, and to develop my taste and knowledge, far beyond my abilities. Ron is a master gunsmith, always a student and a teacher. Yes, it is worth it to have one of his guns. I wish I could afford one of his rifles - I was fortunate to stumble upon one of his pistols last year, and jumped on it. You won't fine better workmanship.

When it comes to this type of rifle I think of it as art. You are buying it because a certain maker made it. The better the maker the higher the demand, so the more he will get for his work.
