Rough cast barrel bands

Hello! I purchased a Pedersoli Springfield 1795 kit recently and am having a little trouble with how to approach getting the barrel bands smoothed out and polished. Right now they are dull and rough. Looking to get them nice and shiny. Thank you for any tips!

Invest in a extra strength jar of elbow grease. Slow polishing with many grits of paper with a backer to keep everything square. Not my favorite chore..

Know any one with a belt sander , that's quick , like 15 min. per band , plus some elbow grease to finish..............oldwood
