I am using conicals from the Lee mold in my Old Army. When I seat the bullet the cylinder cuts a small ring of lead off the bullet. The Lyman Black Powder Manual mentions beveling the mouth of the cylinder so that it sewage's the bullet instead of cutting it. Has anyone tried it? what are the pros, and cons?

During its heyday in the 1850's Colt made some of his pistols with a chamfered chamber mouth.

I don't know if it helps or hurts accuracy, but will be interested in others opinions. :)

I did use a conical stone on the chamber mouth of my ROA to sort of smooth it out, a ring of lead off the slug is assurance that a good seal is being made as the slug is pressed in.
