Anyone who knows where to get replacement nipples for my Ruger old Army ?

1. This is a great forum, where words are not rationed, so feel free to be as vociferous as you like.

2. Welcome.

3. Ruger have royally pee'd in our collective hats with regards to any spares at all for the Old Army that are not common with the Super Blackhawk/Blackhawk from which it was derived, so if you can find Ruger nipples anywhere, please also buy a lottery ticket.

4. Most folks here, me included, have bought Treso nipples from one of the usual suppliers.

Unlike the last set of Ruger Old Army nipples that I bought, they are #11.

well, i did get some from Numtich, but that was about a half decade ago ... when these wear out, I'll replace them with the bronze ones from Track of the Wolf.

for what it's worth, i've found that it's best not to get emotionally attached to nipples- they wear out and that's a cold fact of life, like the reeds in a bagpipe, it's an expendable part.

make good smoke!

oops! after posting, i looked on the Track site and it appears that they do have what you seek - give them a call 1-763-633-02500

I'll second the tip to get ampco nipples from Track of the Wolf. They work great on my Old Army.

Yeah, it's a real pity that that 'superb American quality' doesn't extend to the spares supply, of which there is, now, exactly zero.

Over here in yUK they are now fetching >$700 in well-used condition - IF you can find one.

Found one apparently NIB w/ paperwork in the Allen, TX Cabela's store for $400 a few months ago. It followed me home. Haven't even shot it yet, I'm keeping it as a backup for my RoA 'frankengun'.

tac, i hear you ... for the longest time i wanted a shorter barrel version of the RoA, but they're even more expensive than the M1911 after which i lust, so unless one shows up under the Christmas tree (not XXXX likely) i will have to dream on.

perhaps that lotto ticket ...

Will try to get it posted this evening. Stainless ROA w/ blued cylinder and screws. Evidently the original owner thought SS meant that you never have to clean it ever.

well, odd you should mention that ... i bought a spare cylinder from ClassicBallistx some time ago when i had some spare loot (soda can money) and now i have a blued revolver with a stainless cylinder. the folks at ClassicBallistix were very apologetic, and offered to relpace it for a blued one if i wanted, to pay shipping both ways and so on, but i told them never mind- it's not that big a deal to me and it does look sorta cool ,in an in-you-face-not-HC/PC way. shoots just fine.

Your blue pistol with a bare metal cylinder wasn't the first.

I removed the bluing from my Walkers cylinder because the original Colt Walkers were furnished that way.

Zonie: Did you do anything else to the steel once you removed the bluing? I'd be afraid that it would take on rust too easily...

I like the way it looks though.
