Maybe someone here can help me with an issue I’m having with my ruger OA. My revolver was made in 1989. I bought it a few years ago. Someone at some time has worked on it because it has an almost dangerous trigger pull. I’d guess it’s less than 1lb. It’s been usable for targets as long as you don’t get your finger anywhere near the trigger until youre ready. Shooting it today I’m having an issue with it holding full cock. When placing the gun in full cock if you bump the hammer slightly in any way it will fall from full cock into half cock. If it’s in full cock and you push the hammer in either direction side to side it will fall. In full cock if you pull back on the hammer slightly and release it it will fall from full cock to half cock. Also at half cock the cylinder will not rotate unless you pull the hammer slightly past half cock. I’ve disassembled it and for the life of me I can’t figure what part is worn, broken, or has been altered. Any help on which part needs replaced or causing this issue. There is not debris or cap fragments inside the gun. It is spotless. Thanks.

Sounds like it was used for NMLRA/NRA matches. My match ROA has a 8oz. trigger. Light match triggers require regular retuning. Many parts may have been changed. Most springs, hammer and trigger may have to be replaced to detune to factory specs...

Make sure that your trigger plunger spring is moving freely. And strong enough to do its' job.
Someone may have cut a few coils off of it, or it may be gunked-up and sticking.

Find a good professional gunsmith who specializes in Ruger Old Armies and send it to him to be fixed correctly. Most if not all parts are almost impossible to find now. If you don't know what you are doing and think you have it fixed you could end up shooting someone by accident and I am sure you don't want that to happen.
