Has anyone had experience with Ruger Arms refurbishing anything for them?
I'm considering sending in a ROA to be gone over.
Called and they said that a rebluing would be $130.00 plus any needed work would be extra and plus shipping both ways.
Just wanted to know of other's experience.
Thanks.

I have an ROA and Ruger customer service has been good to me. good luck and let us know how it turns out.

In all honesty, I have no practical experience with sending ROAs back to Ruger. I have had nice experiences with ordering parts from Ruger.

I have spent time asking questions about sending ROAs from those who use them for competition.

Their comments are:

1. If it needs repairs, send it to Ruger.
2. If the pistol has had a trigger job, post
factory, when it is returned to the
factory, the trigger pull will be returned
to what it was as it was when it was new.
3. When in doubt, return it to Ruger and
have another trigger job done later.

I haven't sent one in for refinishing, but had a buddy send one once. It was a blackhawk that had seen a lot of use in the field. They did a nice job. Buffed out the dings and scratches, and sent it back looking like new. They charged extra for the buffing. The $130 is just for the bluing itself. Any prep work needed costs extra. All in all, the work was excellant, but he could have gotten the same job done for less money at a number of other shops.

I have not personally done business with Ruger's factory repair shop. However, I participate on Rugerforum.com; the comments about the factory service are very complimentary in the vast majority. Not all - they're not perfect, and this group of folks has very high standards for what they expect of Ruger, so there are some complaints, but for the most part, in fact, the very large part, people are more than satisfied with them.
