Hello All,

FYI, the dates for the fifth annual Southern Vt. Primitive Biathlon and Winter Shoot are Feb 14th and 15th 2009.

Yesterday I had a chance to walk and shoot the course and I am happy to say it is in fantastic shape. We have plenty of snow with possibly more mid week.

As usual we have plenty of great prizes to give away and I am expecting to add a new shooting event if all goes to plan.

We have a few hardy soles arriving on Friday to set up camp for the weekend and there's plenty of room on the farm for more tents. No reservations are required however if you pre-register for the shoot you can save a few bucks on the event entry fees. (All proceeds go to the Green Mountain Youth Camps)
To learn more about the event go to WWW.SVTPB.ORG

That sounds AWESOME!

Unfortunately I am stuck in Texas for an Army school.

Hopefully next year I can be at my folks place in VT and come and camp and do the course.

I hope you get a huge turnout, especially with such great conditions.

Good luck and have fun!!!

Doc

I'd love to make it up there seeing I'm under 3 hours away.
But it's a hell weekend getting out of Ct. for a 3 day weekend in S. Vt. with Presidents day and all.
91 should be a logjam. Been there way too many times. :rotf:
You boys have fun and maybe I'll get up there next year.

Doc- (way off topic) when did 5th group leave Bragg? I worked briefly with them when i was Deputy ACofS G-3 Air in XVIII Abn Corps way long ago.

msw

You have been out for a while

5th left Bragg summer of 1988 and relocated to Campbell.

Bragg now has 3rd and 7th Group while 10th is at Carson and 1st at Ft Lewis.

Have fun at the primitive biathlon!

Doc

Bring lots of powder and plan on doing lots of shooting. Dale and I will be setting up camp with a wood stove and spending the weekend. Bring a tent (primitive of course) and hang around for the weekend in 18th century style.
See you there.

there was a nice article about this event in yesterday's boston globe, of all papers! it was nice to see something positive about guns in a big newspaper...I bought five copies for you, Brew! I hope you guys stay warm in that tent, how did you find a tent big enough for Dale's couch?

Dear Mr. Oak,

I do not how to how to reply , but with a heavy heart.

This was in fact my first time to SVPVT. IT was WONDERFUL!!!!

The gentleman who whom where at the properaty were all sages, as was watching them shoot!!! All the gentlemen were great. Mr. Monte, " Bill " who won the absolute" marksman , with a nice Jager homemade no less, and all the men/women who put things on. God bless you all!!!

I am writing as I put $$$ into the raffle. And was good enough to win $25 from Marty's sport shop. I was present at the raffle and got an envelope, when I got home, envelope was never sealed and in fact was empty. Am I to redeem an empty envelope???

Marty's is just a bit up the road (20 miles) and if we could resolve this great.

If not, please advise them that a thief is at large and I have a place to stake them out until dead or until they remit the theft.

Is 20 or 12 ga rock salt more appropriate???

Very best regards,

Tony Truran

P.S. I'll be back regardless, to camp the whole weekend, God bless you all!

I will track down things and and no way want disgrace to SVPBT, they are top notch people, as as the men and women I met there.

Hello Mad Professor, First, it was nice to met and talk with you and your wife at SVPB on sat. & Sun.Sorry to hear about the mix up with the raffle you won, I have known Brew and the people at that event since it started, along with many of the people who came to the event, believe me I could trust them with my kids!I'm sure that being open (not sealed) the coupon must have slid out of the envelope! Take care and contact Brew,he will take care of it for you.See you next year at a Biathlon. John

Hello Big John,
Thank you for the kind words. Obviusly the weather could not have been better this year and of course, as always it's great to see such a wonderfull group of people coming together to burn some powder and raise money for a good cause.
As for the gift certificate mix up, we have since spoken to Tony and informed him that the winner of the other $25 Marty's gift certificate mistakenly had 2 certificates it one envelope. We arranged to have one of the certificates sent directly to Tony. So tony, if you are reading this, I hope you get something nice from Marty's and we look forward to having you on camp next year.
Enjoy,
Brew

By the way.
Anyone interested in seeing photos as well as the results from this years Southern Vermont Primitive Biathlon should go to www.svtpb.org.

Congratulations on first place smoothbore. You earned it!
It' was great seeing you and Kim and perhaps we can hook up at the next event.

Brew,

I got your email concerning the mix up, thanks for tracking things down.

I'm embarrassed I posted anything here without giving more time for a reply from your end. I'll bring you a jug of my cider (thye good stuff :shocked2: ) next year as contrition for my sins.

Best regards,

MP

The smugglers notch biathlon and the southern vt biathlon are ones I've been wanting to go to for awhile now. I've been to the one in St Johnsberry a number of times and I just got to the Dalton, NH one for the first time this year. Bad luck though, my lock stopped popping caps half way through the course and I packed it in. Too bad too because my CVA kit built Kentucky is a great shooter. Any way I put in a L&R replacement lock and hope to do it right next year. Maybe I'll get down to Southern Vt mext winter.

Hello MP.
I cant think of a better act of contrition than a jug of home made New England cider.
Looking forward to next years event even more now.

Do you know next years dates yet? Please, please, please don't let it be Valentines weekend again. :surrender:

Unfortunately it looks like next years SVTP Biathlon will be on Feb 13th and 14th making it the last year for a while that it will fall on Valentines weekend.

Believe me, my Misses wasn't too keen on me being away from the homestead that weekend but she did manage to enjoy herself when she showed up.

Maybe you can get your girl a small caliber BP rifle for your anniversary then you can do the Valentines Biathlon together. Just a suggestion.
