to make a sack to put your cooking items in, clothing, or food items, or in your hunting bag. what was the Historical correct material the fur trappers used, How to make these correctly.
 
cloth of various types such as ticking, Russian sheeting aka hemp cloth, and coarse linen to name a few as well as braintan buckskin were the most common materials used during the RMFT era of 1807-1840 or so....
 
Indians made a lot of rawhide bags and boxes. Off hand I can't think of a written pre 1840 westrn accont of whites useing rawhide bags.I have seen HBC Small boxes made of rawhide,but can't say the were pre 1840.Did whites see them and use them?I would think so, but you can go with a cloth bag and be sure they were used.
