I can't say what nipples your gun needs except to say it will be the short pistol nipples, not the long, rifle nipples.

The reason I can't say is your gun could have been built by Uberti, Palmetto, Pedersoli, Pietta, Armi San Paolo or a half a dozen other companies.

Although these companies did use different nipple threads, most of the other parts that might need replacing are so similar that they will either drop in place or need just a little modifying to make them work. The cylinder might be the exception to this.

The nipple threads are probably metric. Metric threads are becoming common enough that most hardware stores and auto parts stores have them and the tools needed to measure them.

Take one of your pistols nipples to one of those stores and ask them to tell you what the threads are.
They are probably 6mm X 0.75mm threads.
A few companies might have used the American #12-28 thread size but its unlikely.

Yes Spanish , I had one several years ago , reasonable copy of an original with all the remy faults , shot way to high , frame twisted with a lot of shooting couldn't wait to get rid of it :(

Never heard that before! What would make a Remington frame twist or spring crooked? I have heard of single action 73 Colt frames being sprung by some numb nuts using a chunk of wood through the cylinder port to twist off a barrel. Probably the same deal on the Remingtons. :rotf: MD

They are very thin in the bottom front web and the top strap is thin as well , later modern repro's are beefed up in these areas .

If memory serves EN Santa Barbara is the military arsenal in Spain. They built the guns themselves for about seven years, about 10,000 copies and then stopped. It is said they used modern steel and had two levels of engraving coverage.

As for the cones, if you're looking to replace them, send one to Track of the Wolf and they'll match it up or offer to reproduce them for you.

My old girl has been aged, and a new foresight, and a tiny windage adjustable rear sight, had a new barrel fitted as the old one had been damaged. It shoots point of aim point of impact 25yds, as it used to shoot rediculously high !! as someone just said. Thanks for the interest you blokes .

cheers

Santa Barbara was a separate company not Italian. Their 1858 Remmies are listed in the 1974 CVA catalog.

As the lower page states, Santa Barbara, the Spanish National Firearms Factories.

That is one interesting old catalog from CVA, I must say. I've got two old ones from Navy Arms and Replica Arms. They are fun to look at and wonder why I didn't buy one each when I had the chance!

Thanks for that Mate, most interesting. My late father bought this pistol , cased with accessories from my Scout troops assistant scout master who must have has some nefarious connections in the early 1970s. It is a great shooting pistol and now looks like a battlefield pickup.
