ok I can't put up photos so I'll describre it, flat sided day type horn, on the large end it had a division placed about an inch deep inside and the cap on the end was hinged with a catch on it so you could open the large end and carry several balls inside and still use most of the rest of the horn for powder like usual, a most interesting horn, hope this makes sense. It really was an interesting idea for a day horn where your not going to take more then a few shots while hunting, everything encased n carried within the horn itself except the patchs, and actually you could probably carry them in the larger end along with the balls, really a slick idea, may not be PC/HC but kool none the less

ditto. I have seen at least two versions of the same idea, one was where the base plug was a two piece, (hollowed) with a finial that could be removed to hold the RB's and the other style was a "door" was cut into the horn itself to hold the Ball. both styles are pretty cool IMO, pretty inventive!

I've seen several versions of these horns like you are describing, but always looked like they were base end heavy and wouldn't hang right while carrying, as the weight isn't distributed evenly.

There were a few original powder horns that had these ball compartments, but I guess it never caught-on.

Guess, I'm just more traditional!
