Finished this one yesterday. It was made for the 18" blade shell guard hunting sword. 7 to 8 oz vege-tan leather, Mounts are low carb 22 ga. steel, all hand made and hand formed. The locket on the throat is sawed, ground, and filed to shape from a 3/8" bar, silver brazed on with a reinforcement pin though the throat. The leather is mildly hardened, and oiled. The steel mounts were cold browned to match the sword. Now I have make a shoulder strapped frog for it. Hope you enjoy a look.

Some of the more daring than myself will hunt wild hogs with a sword or a knife. It usually involves the use of dogs to harry the hog and then the hunter finishes the animal with the blade. Having been around a few wild hogs and killed several, I will stay with something involving gunpowder and distance.

I remain your humble servant,

looks amazing, great work. I've been thinking about making a hunting sword for some time. Can anyone tell me what is the purpose of the clam shell guard seen on many hunting swords.
