I would be interested, depending on the final price.

Realistically, our mail carrier would be pretty unhappy with me if he had to deliver a 70 pound package. I bought about a 44 pound lot of lead a while back and it elicited some comments, but he was good about it. I can see his point. Sometimes a lady fills in for him, and I don't think there is any way she could handle 40 pounds. I would be more likely to buy a smaller flat-rate box, probably no more than 25-30 pounds.

I think I'm pretty well fixed for lead right now, but if it is offered at a good price, I would be interested.

Let's say you keep 100 lbs. If you then package 50 lbs into medium flat rate boxes, you only need to sell 8 boxes. From what I've seen, that should be no problem at all. I'd be interested.

Another little packaging tidbit, to make packing more secure. Six small flat rate boxes fit perfectly in a large flat rate box.

From what I've seen, wrapping the box completely with packing tape is secure enough. Just curious, is it possible to get 50 lbs of lead into a small flat rate?

I'm older and have a crate of modern ammo that weighs 60 lbs., and it's a bit more than I can handle. My personal limit is about 40 lbs. safely or 'achey later'! I put little roller wheels on the bottom so I can move it around!

You are correct! Lead is .409 lbs per cubic inch. The small flat rate box is about 75 cubic inches which equates to around 30 lbs of lead if it's really crammed in there.
If this is actually soft lead, count me in. A medium flat rate box through the site I use costs $14.75.

Keep in mind theres a lot of work and time involved to haul the scrap, get it into manageable size for your pot, melt it down into ingots, package it, then get it to the post office. Id think it’d easily bring the price to $2 per lb. Theres a reason it sells for what it does.
