I picked up a couple small scrapers a few yrs ago at friendship. The older gentleman was working on a gun close to the entrance actually I guess it would be back porch on first building going in. He sold these little scrapers he made. Anyone familiar with these or know where to get scrapers that are pretty small. I would make some but don't hsve any idea how.

Card scrapers for wood are a very simple tool to make or buy. Go on the web and type in wood scraper for sale and you will get a BUNCH of web sites to explore. Go and buy some inexpensive multi-pack scrapers then you can re-grind them into the shape you want. Card scrapers from MOST of the woodworking supply stores have low price to high price card scrapers - buy the low to medium price multi-pack ones in thickness of around 0.032" - 0.040" as these will be very flexible which will aid in shaping curved and flat surfaces - (my opinion). Go on You-Tube and study how to sharpen a card scraper - not hard but there is a learning curve to get the hook on the edge just right.

Break a good used hacksaw blade into 3 or 4 inch pieces. Grind one end of each piece to the shape you need. Sharpen that shape on one side only. I use them constantly. Cheap, reshape as needed, nothing better for small work.. Polecat 🦨

Thanks Dayle Lilly
When you say sharpen one side only. Do you mean single bevel on one side or one side only as to not have a sharp edge pointing at you?

These are made by Richard Miller.
He sells them at Friendship. Is this what you are looking for?

I talked to Dick Miller at Friendship also, he is an incredible gun builder. I just saw him last Sunday at a club shoot in Dorr, MI. He will be in Kalamazoo, MI this coming weekend at the Kalamazoo Living History show.

Single bevel on one broken end. You grip the other end.
