McMasters-Carr.com. They sell lots of stuff, including screening. According to data I got from a Hodgdon Data manual, FFg powder should not go through a 24 mesh screen. That is a 24 x 24 wires to the inch mesh. I found that McMasters has 24 x 24 mesh screen wire for just under $10.00 per square foot.
The same data says the minimum mesh size for FFFg powder is 46 mesh. However, McMasters only sells 40 x 40 mesh, which is close enough.
FFFg ( Priming powder) is 60 Mesh. McMasters sells 50 x 50 mesh, which, again, is close enough.
I can not imagine needed more than 1 square foot of any of this. Build a wood frame to staple the screen to, and you are ready to screen powder the rest of your life. Or, someone suggested getting those knitting and sewing hoops, at the hobby stores, or some fabric stores, used to hold fabric taught while its embroidered. They come in pairs, with one fitting over the other, and holding the fabric( screen in our use) tight against the other. If they come in the right diameter, it would work for me!
If it were me, I would get the FFg screen( 24 mesh) and the FFFg mesh( 40 mesh) and anything that passed through the 40 mesh would be used as priming powder. I would not bother screening priming powder, as I can't think of a reason to do it. Only if you are making firecrackers, and need 5F or 7Fg powder would there be any reason to screen powder that fine.
You need a federal license to make fireworks, including firecrackers, and probably a state permit as well. Homeland security takes a dim view of " bomb-making materials" these days, so you don't want to go there if you can avoid it.
