...to find a thread on this forum. The article explains, with photos included, how the author milled a mortise into the wrist of a long rifle underneath the trigger guard tang then installed a fitted wood filler. I don't recall if this was done as a repair to a cracked wrist, or to add strength to the wrist to avoid breakage.
I would like to re-read that thread because it might come in handy in the not to distant future.
Any help finding that thread will be greatly appreciated - and yes, I will continue to search through the 913 pages of this forum...

That's going to be a tough one.
If, you do find it again I suggest three things; save it to favorites on your web browser, take screen shots of the whole thing and save them to a file on the subject, and lastly,,,,,,
click the little bookmark icon in the blue field at the beginning of the post...

Something like that was Eric Krewson’s posting of how he repaired a precarved stock that had a poorly done lock mortise. Not sure if it’s exactly what you’re looking for however.
