When I first got into the BP hobby I was like many who had gone before, I bought stuff which didn't pan out. One neat little gadget which was soon discarded from my kit was a priming horn, of sorts. I don't think I've ever seen one except the one I bought. Has anyone ever used this one?

It works very well, and I still use it occasionally when I'm not hunting in colonial rig.

 still have mine..use it hunting...and ..if asked...it's an actual original authentic reproduction of a primer horn....of whale bone of course!

First one like that I've seen. Kinda cool, actually. The most interesting primer I own is this one built for me out of a deer leg bone and walnut.

Spence,
I bought one years ago too. I mounted the valve in a flat horn and carried it quite a while. The advantage I liked was that it didn't tough the pan. As you know you held it against the barrel and then operated the valve. It stayed cleaner than the type that is pushed against the pan bottom. It seemed like you can adjust the amount of prime - is that right?

Pletch

Dixie gun works has those. They are $15 bucks.

Mark, you don't have a link to the page do you? I searched the site and couldn't find them anywhere. I had never looked twice at those but now that I see the tip doesn't go into the pan where it'll get clogged the second time it's used I want one.

Have used mine for many years, but the color is black.......Fred

Yes, you can easily adjust the amount of prime on the fly by simply pulling the sleeve back as much as needed. And, it touches nothing, seems pretty clog proof even in wet conditions,

Spence,

Ft. Chambers in Chambersburg, Pa. sells one like that. $14.95. They usually have a selection in ivory or brown color.

Click under "products", then "accessories" in the drop down. It is at the bottom of page 4 of the pdf.

I also see them on DGW. Try Gooooogling "Fort Chambers Pan Charger".
