MUZZLELOADING
By-laws of "__________________________"
Article I - NAME
Let it be known, the name of this organization shall be "La Compagnie de la Terre Rouge", meaning The Company of Men from the Red Earth.
Article II - OBJECT
The object of this club/organization shall be the encouragement of primitive skills, ex. rifle, pistol, camping, travel, and historically correct clothing and equipage. The gathering of peoples of like interests to further the groups objectives in the developement of individual and company characteristics of honesty, good fellowship, self-discipline and sportsmanship involved with the reenactment of historical events, and maintain the highest of standards in such activities.
Article III - MEMBERSHIP
Any citizen of our United States of America or Canada, territories or districts in North America, being 17 years of age or older, may become a member of this club/organization on a vote from the membership.
Article IV - DUES
The member's annual dues to this group shall be $_______ payable not later than the 1st of _______ of each year. This money will be used to cover of postage, copying, etc. No member in arrears shall be eligible to vote or enjoy any other privileges or benefits offered by this club.
Article V - MEETINGS
Meetings, trips, shoots, hunts, camps, etc. shall be held on a simple, as can, will do time period - weekend, week or weeks! Quorm - one third of the members of the club entitled to vote shall constitute a quorm at any meeting.
Article VI - BOARD OF DIRECTORS
There will be NO OFFICERS of said club as all members are equal and able to reason as a group. Instead there will be a Board of Directors, 4 to 6 members, that will rotate every two years. If for some reason a board member can't finish his/her term, a new member will be appointed as a replacement. Four members shall constitute a quorm.
Article VII - SAFETY
Two members will organize or run event with full charge of all activities, including safety. Safety is everyone's responsiblity whether with firearms, edged weapons, water vessels, hiking or what ever is going on. "This is for everyone's enjoyment - an accident is hard for all that are involved to forget."

Article VIII - TIME PERIOD
This shall be a flexible from the French & Indian War to the end of the Fur Trade, (pre-1840 to 1750).
SAFETY - RANGE RULES
NO PRIMED WEAPONS BEHIND THE FIRING LINE
NO SMOKING IN THE LOADING OR SHOOTING AREA
NO DRINKING BEFORE OR DURING A SHOOT
WEAPONS NOT BEING USED
ARE TO BE PUT IN A SAFE PLACE, NOT ON THE GROUND
LOADING IS DONE WITHIN SEVEN FEET, BEHIND THE FIRING LINE
MUZZLE SHALL REMAIN UP AT ALL TIMES EXCEPT WHEN SHOOTING
CHAMBER MUST BE EMPTY AND REMAIN SO WHEN RANGE IS CLOSED
HANG FIRES WILL BE HANDLED IN A SELECTED LOCATION, AWAY FROM THE FIRING LINE
WATCH THE DIRECTION OF YOUR MUZZLE WHEN PRIMING, HANG FIRES, ETC. KEEP DOWN RANGE
DO NOT KNAP YOUR FLINT WITH WEAPON PRIMED AND VENT HOLE UNCOVERED
GIVE A WARNING BEFORE FIRING "FLINTLOCK" SAVES A FELLOW MEMBER FROM VENT HOLE FLASH
POWDERHORN PLUGS/CAPS IN PLACE - LOAD FROM THE BAG ONLY - CHARGES FROM MEASURES OR PAPER CARTIDGES.
This is for fun, but lets keep it authentic and close to being historically correct, not trying to out do other groups or be better. Isn't it more enjoyable to do it right, knowing you could do as good or maybe a touch better than one of our forefathers! Study history, accounts of a happening, etc., this will give you clues of what was used, its useage and how well one can manage with very little material items. The bottom line is if your not willing to try and do it as historically correct as possible, then don't join this group. You won't like the comments.
