A chat with a friend about sharpening knives and sutch, brought up some memories. During my waterfront years I acquired a reputation amongst our riggers for sharpening knives. Depending on how badly trashed the edges were, I'd use a emery paper backed with a file to restore the bevel, and a two sided stone to sharpen. Then I'd go to a dirty piece of card board to strop the edge. If the knife was a good one not a Stan paki, I could make it shave. Through the years I've used my knives, and then simply gave them a tune up on the nearest card board box. Just a chuckle... BJH
