Looking for shootin bag straps,I,ve looked for hemp/jute strap material at several websites can't find it. I'm either looking in the wrong places or calling it the wrong name.Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.Wayne.

Jim Jacobs, Blue Heron Mercantile, and a number of others have it. I believe this is the correct name, Hemp Traders, also. You can them and more on the Historical Trekkers board.

LEJ,wanting to make some bags that would fit in the 1760-1780 time frame, that would of been carried on the Va/Pa frontier.Just now starting to research and get ready to make a few.

If you want a little more color for your strap, give hte folks at Wilde Weavery, a call.

They do absolutely beautiful work and the straps are historically correct; strong, period correct yarn, attractive, and above all reasonably priced. I have several and can't say enought good things about these folks.
