The Third Model Dragoon is said to have been Samuel Colt's favorite sixgun. There is a lot to like about this big horse pistol. In this video we'll show you how to load and fire the Dragoon with both round balls and conical bullets. Uberti in Italy manufactures this replica and Taylor's & Co. in Winchester, Virginia imports it into the United States. It is a big piece of iron, but fun to shoot.

Another great video. The Dragoon is the one style of Colt revolver I don't own but want to very much. Will the 200 grain Lee conical shoot well out of the Dragoon? I have the mold and would not want to buy more equipment unless I had to.

That's what I thought but I didn't know if Duelist had a reason for using the Ruger conicals for any other reason than extra mass.

Take a look also at the Cabela's website. They currently have not only the 1st, 2nd & 3rd Model Dragoons available, but also the Whitneyville and Walker.

I've had a 2nd model for a while now, and it is great fun fire with a full load, but is amazingly accurate with 25 gr. 3F pushing a roundball. Everyone wants to shoot conicals, since "that is what the Army used", but I've gotten much better accuracy from RB's than with any of the conical loads I've ever tried.
