I needed a small container to carry shot on a squirrel or rabbit hunt, just enough for a few shots, so I made one of buckskin. I started by whittling a stopper of dry sassafras of the size I wanted the pour spout. I soaked a small piece of rawhide until it was soft and then cut a small rectangle just long enough to wrap around the stopper. Using a punch awl to make a row of holes I sewed the rawhide tightly around the stopper and let it dry there. I folded a piece of buckskin rough side in and cut out the size and shape I wanted, making sure the neck fit around my rawhide spout. Again using the awl and waxed flax thread I sewed the bag together along one side and the end, then turned it inside out so the stitching was inside and rough side was out. Slipping the neck of the bag over the rawhide spout, I adjusted and trimmed until it fit snuggly. then wrapped the neck tightly with brown flax thread and sealed it with melted beeswax. The bag holds enough for 10-12 shots, just enough for a day's small game hunting, and it slips into my shooting pouch without taking up much room. Rawhide is tough stuff, good to work with. The pouch is 13 years old and other than being dirty is as good as new.
