Here's a new small shot pouch with a custom measure just completed for a friend. Often hunting with a fowler you're only going to have a few shots so why carry around a full snake or large pouch. This was designed for the short day hunter and wanted only to have about 5 shots available. Our hunter in this instance carries a 20 gauge and likes to use 1 1/2 oz of number 7 shot. The pouch is made from thick moose dyed a nice cordovan and sports a collar and stopper turned from cherry. I attached a turned walnut measure for pouring out 1 1/2 shot using a hand braided wax linen lanyard. Other than that a nice compact unit to carry in your hunting bag.

Nice looking pouch. But I wonder about 1&1/2 ounce of shot in a 20 gauge. It seems heavy to me, I never shoot over 1%1/4 ounce in my 12 gauges.

Nice looking outfit. And the small size makes sense. My shot flask is about the size of my fist, yet still holds over 2 pounds of shot. And that's a load in your bag all day.

I like that construction method, but I'm curious about synching the leather tight around the turned wooden collar. Did you glue the leather to the collar before sewing?

First the collar is about 1" long and the end in the bag is bellied so that once sewn tight the collar will not come out.

As to the other item, I don't shoot fowlers so I only built based on what the user wanted and what he currently uses. Other than that I have no clue.
But, the up side is if it is too much volume, put some epoxy in the bottom to build up to the size amount of shot needed.
